Can a company liquidate and immediately start up anew?

Does Company Law allow a Company to go into liquidation because of inability to pay debts, and days later the same directors register a new company with the same trading business, employees etc?
The address has changed to another unit in the same estate, and the customers are being told by the (same) salesman that "it is just a name change". Business as usual.
Is it legal?

If there are any doubts that this may have been deliberate to avoid creditors then the ODCE should be informed.

Thanks.
I did a search before I wrote my query, but obviously used the wrong words. That was a helpful thread, Papervalue. I have now approached the liquidator and will see about contacting the ODCE after that.

Watch our for anti-avoidance tax provisions if you liquidated the company for tax reasons.
