camera - 10 days old - faulty

Bought a great camera 10 days ago. When the battery ran low a few days ago I tried to charge it and it doesn't appear to charge.

Clearly I need to go back to the shop to sort it out.

Presumably they won't offer me a new camera but will seek to repair it. I have a few events coming up in the next couple of weeks that I will want to capture on camer and therefore don't want to be without my camera for those weeks.

Couple of questions -
-If it's not a simple question of a faulty battery (hope it is) do I have any right to new camera and not a repair?
-If they send it for repair what is a reasonable time for it to be away?
-Any chance of a replacement camera while they are working on my faulty camera?

You have 30 days to return this good without having to go through the repair proceedure. The company will either offer you a direct replacement same model, a different model of same value or credit towards a higher model. However you must have your receipt & full packaging - without they are within their rights to offer a repair.
reason for this is the suppliers all offer retailers 30days RMA return period for DOA goods.
Just be aware there is no 30 day written into the law here its at the discretion of the retailer. However I have yet to meet any retailer in Ireland who doent follow the same guidlines.

Dont allow them to repair it - If it goes faulty in a months time you will not have any right to then replacing the camera.

Damn - I've put the packing into the green bin - which hasn't been emptied yet! Does a soggy box count as packaging!!!!

I don't get why the original packaging is needed as I have the receipt showing it was bought from them....?

What is 'RMA' ? and what is 'DOA'.

I am not aware of any change of the repair, replace or refund rules for the first 30 days, do you have a link ?
