Camcorder Problem/ Repairs

My camcorder is recording normally on the LCD screen, with an advancing time counter, but when I go to replay it, it has only intermittently recorded stuff. I have tried different tapes, and it is still a problem

Any ideas about a simple cause for this, or where could I get it repaired in dublin area?

Perhaps cleaning it with a cleaning tape might help.
