Buying used car late in year

Hi,

I'm looking for advice on buying a used car at this time of year. Do prices generally go down in January? E.g.: the car I'm looking at is an 08 reg - would I be better off waiting until January to buy an 08?

same boat as myself so I'd be interested in any replies, car I'm looking at is as cheap as it'll get this year I know for a fact but will he have to drop it in jan automatically? dealer has it listed at 16000 on carzone, can get it for 12,750 cash (see my Lancer post!), bit torn so any ideas welcome!

From the google keyword search trend car buyers seem to decline at this time of year, then take a rapid increase from December on reaching its peak at 1st January. Not any sort of scientific test but a good indicator.

i would imagine the increase in december to January relates to new cars, this would lead to even more trade-ins and thus more used cars for sale.
