I am looking to purchase Roller Blinds for the house.
Has anyone purchased these online and if so can you recommend a site to visit please
 
I have purchased from www.B4I.ie twice and found them very good. There is no problem ordering sample fabric and delivery was very quick. You need to be prepared to hang them yourself but they supply instructions and there really is nothing to it.
I am not connected with this company in any way, just really happy with my blinds !

I only got one other quote and that was from ACME blinds and that was around €800 more expensive. So a good saving for me.
I went to a few of the other cheaper blind shops, but wasn't mad on the range or fabrics. I was looking for plain blinds with a slight weave in the fabric (modern style). Alot of the cheaper places went for the more traditional blinds with braid or tassels on the end. I didn't even bother getting a quote from these.
 
You would be mad to buy blinds online. The fabrics and finishes vary greatly from each supplier. Some people in my estate bought cheap blinds and they look like "paper" on the windows.

I have bought many blinds from b4i and a local company and the quality from b4i is exactly the same and a lot cheaper.

As madmolly has said - You can get free samples of the fabric before ordering

And they all bought them online did they ? It's a very sweeping generalisation to suggest all online blinds suppliers are rubbish. They are cheaper in price but not in quality in my experience

If you need Velux / Fakro / RoofLITE blinds I would definitely recommend this online company http://www.itzala.net/ie/shop/!cipc4.shop

The blinds come direct from Germany and are much cheaper than any blind shop here in Dublin (from my experience anyway). I received my new Velux blinds from them just this week and they cost €78 each including shipping. I got quoted €195 for the exact same Velux blind from a Dublin shop. I could not believe the price difference!!

The blinds arrived within around 6 days of ordering via DHL and are very easy to install (done in 10 minutes). I bought black out blinds and they are fantastic – plus they look nice too! I could not believe that a Dublin shop was trying to charge me two and half times the price of that quoted on the website for the exact same thing! It really pays off to shop around I think.
 
How much savings are there to be made? Is it wooden blinds, which can be very expensive or straightforward plain old roller blinds with a white/cream finish. I got house of blinds fitted last year for around €500 (there were about 9 blinds) from a local guy and was very happy with the blinds and finish. Some of my neighbours had mixed results when buying blinds both online and from blind shops. I just find it hard to judge quality when all you have to go on is a swatch of fabric.

The finish/stitching etc varies differently from each supplier. Also, some of the suppliers give you plastic beads at the side, for the side chain whilst others give you stainless steel, which looks far smarter.

There are a number of people here saying B4i are great and perhaps they are, I just would be weary of measuring/hanging etc, particularly drilling into tiles in the bathroom. I did see the guy hanging them and it did look easy, so I suppose a handyman would do it fairly handy.

I suppose it would be safer to buy like Pantone, Velux, which is a brand, so the quality can't vary.

To the OP, I would shop around, online can be /but is not always better. Get a couple of quotes from online and local before you go with it.

I can also recommend this website - I got 3 velux blinds for €160 including delivery whereas the velux site quoted me €320! As above, they are very easy to fit and look equally as good as the velux brand.
 
Just like to chip in with my two cents worth.

I have bought blinds from B4i.ie and have to say I am very happy with them, for value, quality, service and fast delivery.

Obviously, you have to measure and install yourself, but its not rocket science.

I have also bought 3 Fakro blinds from Itzala.net, which I am very happy with. I believe they come from Hungary, but open to correction. Excellent value for this type of blind. Just followed the installation instructions, and job was oxo.

b4i have all types of blinds, worth getting a quote off a local guy and then check on b4i.
 
Just wanted to say that I'm getting some roman blinds made for my house but the cost to get them done in a fabric shop was huge. Now I'm buying the kits on line from an ebay shop for Euro26 each (Euro45 in the shop) and getting them made up locally for Euro40 per blind and then its just the cost of the fabric and there's not a lot of fabric in a roman blind - you only need the size of the window plus a few inches for turning. The roman blind kits are due to arrive anyday now so will let you know how I get on with them.

The kits I ordered were for Roman Blinds not Rollers Blinds. Yeah they arrived and were fine but think I made a mistake as the mechanism for raising and lowering them wasn't exactly as I thought it would be but that was entirely my fault as I didn't check it out. They work perfectly but just would have preferred a different type, thats all.
 
I got 13 Roller blinds supplied and fitted earlier this year for 1300 euro's from Direct Blinds in Little Island and they were the cheapist of 3 quotes. The other 2 quotes were for only 12 plain blinds where as the quote from these people included some that were patteren, some waterproof and all with child safety devices. I was really happy with their service and think buying online something like this might not be as good a saving as it might seem.

I would be greatfull if anyone could give me some up to date info on online roller blind orders, quality of material, stitching ect.

What should I be looking out for, when I am ordering online?

Any reccomendations would be appreciated.

I bought blinds from b4i as mentioned above last year. I followed their guide to measuring to the letter, and was very disappointed to find that every one of the blinds delivered were narrower (by about 25-30mm) than the measurements I supplied leaving an unsightly gap at each side. I presume this is to ensure they fit in situations where the provided measurements and cut down on returns.

It took a long time to resolve the issue, I had to threaten legal action and offer to provide photographic evidence that the blinds were narrower than ordered before they finally agreed to replace a couple of the worst ones (in the most prominent locations)
