To my fellow technophobes. I needed to replace my Dell battery (I got a little warning that the battery needed changing) and the cost of replacement from Dell direct was just short of €149.00.
A techie friend of mine sourced a better longer lasting one for me on ebay (power seller, 100% satisfaction rating etc) for €48.00 including postage. Over €100 in the difference. He also installed this free little program that displays a "battery bar" that tells you how your battery is doing. All the info you need to replace the battery btw is written on the battery itself.
So like everything else, the moral really is shop around.
