Buying land...what insurance do I need.

Hi there,

My father is buying land. He doesnt have any intention to build on it at the moment but maybe down the line. Its 20 acres beside his house. The mortgage company want him to show some insurance, they have ruled out public liability insurance. What insurance can he get on land?

Any advice would be great as the mortgage company are not much help

What type of insurance do they want? PL should seem to be the best you can get. You cannot insure the land for fire!

Perhaps they want some form of life assurance to cover the loan.
