Am interested in investing overseas but would prefer to buy land rather than an apartment/house.Any advice??Where could I get information?any companies that do this??

It depends on what county you're looking at and what type of land. Also what you wish to do with the land, buy and hold or just buy for building or structured resale. My colleagues handle land here but I'm sure most companies would too!

Wanted to buy and hold ...........in the hope that it would increase in value!!!!Not really interested in buying property as I don't want the hassle of management etc. while we are far away.

Sounds like not much hassle owning land but you need to be careful about:

a). Good title
b). Planning permission - is it really zoned as per the agent says or will their be complications either getting planning permission or with the existing planning permission
c). Does it have electricity, water, sewage facilities nearby.
d). Any plans for future rezoning in the area that improve or reduce the value.
e). Was a survey of the land done recently to see what the ground is like and what can be built on it. I've seen cases where the cost of the project is much more expensive due to the foundations required.
f). Is there a resale value on the land and could you sell for at least the same price the next day after buying...

Anyway, I'm sure you've considered the list above and many more items.

Onway,

To get a valid response you really need to be specific about which country (ies) you are interested in.

Probably Eastern Europe - Hungary etc. Haven't decided on anywhere definite - wanted to get an idea of what was available first but not sure where to start.
