H
I am currently living in Slovakia with my girlfriend, while she finishes Uni here..
we're in the East of the country, just outside Presov. The Property prices are very low compared to the rest of the country, and we're thinking about buying a place here with a view to selling in a couple of years. Would this be a good investment... or are the property prices that low for a reason??
I am a first time buyer, and not that sure about how to go about buying a property in a foreign country, does anyone have experience buying here?
How easy is it to get a mortgage here? or would it be better to get a mortgage with a bank in Ireland?? Thanks for any help you can give me!!
hello, I'm also considerin investing in tatras area. have you any good links on the market there or sound property agents
tks
Icecool, Vysne Ruzbachy are not in the Tatras. They are 50-60 km from the better ski resorts! There's a small local ski centre in Ruzbachy, but its just a few lifts and only about 700 m over sea level. Nobody who's going on ski holiday goes to V. Ruzbachy. There are over 300 ski centres in Slovakia, of course most are just a few small lifts. Only 4-5 are truly decent and popular for skiing (mostly family skiing, although Jasna for example has about 30 runs and even most difficult ones, which is why it's the usually the only resort considered by serious skiers; the other ones are smaller but still popular - Donovaly, Strbske Pleso, Velka Raca; the last one is really just a winter resort and dead for the rest of the year in terms of tourism).
Of course you can buy dirt cheap property in remote villages, there are many like Vysne Ruzbachy. Often good houses can be had at less than 30k. But they have stayed cheap for a reason, no demand. Of course to foreigners it all seems like a bargain. Its ok if you are buying for yourself, but its another matter for investment or if you want any chances of rental returns.
Btw, mortgages are easily available (even for foreigners) for property in good areas, including main tourist resorts. If the bank doesn't want to finance your property, it's because they don;t feel security in it.
Which Slovakian bank(s) offer mortgages to foreigners?Btw, mortgages are easily available (even for foreigners) for property in good areas, including main tourist resorts. If the bank doesn't want to finance your property, it's because they don;t feel security in it.
