Buying House 'Anonymously'

Hi - just wondering if anyone had any ideas or advice. We originally sale agreed a house that we really liked but due to health issues in our family and timing, there was too much pressure on us so we pulled out. However, the house is back on the market and now that things have settled for us, we would like to buy the house.The house is now at a lower price.

We are considering the best approach on buying this house and are wondering if we can buy it anonymously because -

a) the vendor might decide not to deal with us as we have let them down previously and could be afraid the same might happen again

b) the house is now at a more affordable price for us and if the vendor realises that we are the interested party, they might use tactics to push up the price (we suspect phantom bidders and tactics were used to up the price when we originally sale agreed).

Has anyone been in this situation before or if anyone has any recommendations/advice, we'd be really grateful. Many thanks.
 
It is possible. If someone, anyone, is willing to do all the negotiations and, ultimately, sign a contract for the purchase, they can then nominate someone else to take the Transfer.

Issues?
The person who ultimately wants to be on the Deeds changes their mind and leaves their friend/brother in deep do-do.

Its a lot of faffing around.

Yes. But only if purchaser puts you in funds in advance. Which cannot happen if they are getting a mortgage. Why run this risk for a client?

you and seemingly many more poster seem to think that the only reason bids are going in on a property is cause the EA is using 'phanthom bids'.

With regard to your problem, why don't you get a parent or family member to do a viewing and put in an offer on your behalf. I don't think you need read into it too much. If the prices starts going too high and you become suspicious again then don't bid any higher.
