Buying homeware on auction sites

Hi all!
I'm in the process of buying a house that is finished to a plastered stage so we need to get all the items to finish it off from the skirting to the kitchen.
It's my 1st time at this and didn't realise how expensive EVERYTHING is. Totally shocked at the prices of taps, shower enclosures etc.
After a brief look online there seems to be alot of nice taps etc on a very popular auction website (not sure if I can name it?). Obviously worried about quality, reliability etc so was wondering of any of you have experience with buying homeware specifically from any similar place? Would you recommend it?
Thanks!

You could try some of the northern shops. I'm afraid I don't know the names of any of them but we had a builder doing work for us and he was from the North and he bought all his stuff up there and brought it down. If you google the items you're looking for some businesses should come up, if you put in the North as well. You need to make sure any plumbing fittings are compatible with what you have in your house already. Also, as far as I know, delivery can easily be arranged.

You could try this crowd:

They had a stand at the selfbuild show ...

I have no experience of them and I have no connection with them.
