My Scottish husband inherited £250k on his dad's death, and we're thinking of buying something in Edinburgh that we'd use ourselves for occasional visits, and otherwise make available for short-term letting (eg tourist market). But we know nothing about the Edinburgh market, nor short-term letting.
Any advice appreciated, and on how to go about researching it. (We're heading over late-January to spend a few days there researching it further )
eg which would work best, one-bed or 2-bed? Or buy a 2-bed, but use one of the bedrooms to lock away personal stuff when letting it out? Any areas we should avoid? Any advice on sourcing/selecting a letting agent?
