Buying fish direct from the fisherman.

Seeing the scenes on T.V. recently of our fishermen giving away free fish to the public but at the same time complaining that the retailer is marking up the price of their fish fourfold I wondered why it is not possible to buy direct from the fisherman? Does anyone know where I can purchase fish direct from the trawlers in south county dublin? We hear of farmer's markets, are there such things as fish markets with a similar set up to the farmers markets?
I know there is a place on Dun Laoghaire pier but someone told me that the fish being sold there is not actually direct from the trawlers but via the wholesale market?

Just go down to the pier where the working fisherboats come in and ask. You'll soon be pointed in the right direction ( no sarcasm intended, it just sounded like that).

Vanilla, do you know when normally fishboat out for fishing? I only have time during weekend. Usually, we buy fish in Howth. Love to buy directly from fisherman.
