Looking to get carpet for the stairs and just wondering what to look out for when buying it. Origianlly had carpet when I bought the house but got worn so took it up and then varnished the stairs but now these are fading and want to get carpet. Rest of the house has wooden floors and looking for something that will last. Only been to Des Kelly so far and plenty of reams of carpet but not sure what will last / not last?

Any tips on what to look out for?

get a wool mix....mine are nine years old and are as good as new.polypropolene go readdly quickly

We have had sisal on the stairs for years and it is long lasting but the only problem is you can't have it shampooed so next time and very soon I will be replacing it with carpet.

We had sisal runner put in a few years ago. Bloody dreadful. You cant clean it at all. From my experience I would avoid like the plague. I will definitely be replacing ours with an easy to clean option.

Other thing to consider is full stairs cover vs runner. Runners look great but tend to collect dust at the sides
