Buying car parking space in apartment

I am seeking to buy an apartment in Dublin City centre, which does not have a car parking space with it. There is parking in the apartment block. The agent said it may be possible to buy a space (through the management company's agent) at some time. Do you know if parking spaces ever come up for sale in Dublin apartment blocks, and what sort of price do they usually go for?

That is a how long is a piece of string question. Without knowing the development, no one could advise on the value of a space.

It is possible to buy them from other owners if and when they come up for sale, but that may be never in some places. If and when they do, there may be a bidding war for them, pushing the price up. Also, while possible to buy, it's nor a simple transaction. There will be legal fees involved for both you and the management company (if they permit the sale) and you would probably be liable for their fees.

In summary, I would advise buying there if you need a parking space. The agent will say anything to get the sale and anything they do say even if lies, they will deny and not be liable for the consequences of their misinformation.

Ask the management company. Some developments did not sell all of the car parking spaces when the development was completed and the developer may have spaces that they are willing to sell. This is probably the exception to the rule as apartments that have no assigned space are likely to be in a development where demand outstripped supply from the time it was originally built.

My son rented an apartment that included a parking space. At the time he was a non driver. He was able to rent out his car space. You might find that there are some owners who are not drivers but who own spaces willing to rent out to you. Maybe a few letters in letter boxes?
