Anybody got had any experience buying
a second hand car like audi/bmw in a garage in the UK.
Does it work out much cheaper than
buying a car here.
VRT , flight to london , ferry home with car
have to factored in etc.
Thanks

If you do a search it's been discussed at length here. Yes it's often worthwhile.

hi
not sure if its worthwhile
look at the other threads as mentioned -they go into more detail
if you have to pay vrt when u return_this could negate any savings
i think u have to b in uk 4 6 months and then have the car in irl 4 12 months to avoid vrt
if buying from garage why?
u can buy from giant-ahuge discountsales center of 2 nd hand cars
its on wood road about1.5 miles from white city
if u get as far as the t junction with the harrow road ur gone past it
the adv is there is a huge selection set price_cant haggle! and checked cars _so no stolen crashed not paid 4 etc
if want to buy private many small ads eg thames valley trader etc any newsagent youll see the car mags
also LOOT_like our buy and sell
also check out the gumtree website just type in gumtree uk get the london one then cars for sale give u a good idea of prices
if buying this way get car checked out by the companies that tell u the cars history u give them the car numbers and they have all the details of all the cars on computers files etc
important as lots of clocked notpaid 4 imported stolen jap carsetc
esp if paying more than 5k
finally go into the newsagents in london and buy this booklet they sell
that gives the price of every 2nd hand car in uk so u know what to pay
definetly in wh smith
best of luck

Hi finbar,

yep totally worth while mate if its a new car !..Sunrock is right.

For a 2nd had car ...not really the best idea(unless its a top marquee). To buy a car in London and bring it home you must own the car for 6 mths abroad (and prove it ) ...than bring it home and not sell it for 12 mths. This in return will avoid paying VRT (which is a load of Boll*x anyway) . After that mate your free to sell it. However by that stage the 2nd hand car market for "your" car could have fallen big time.

However with a new car ....you can break even or in most cases make a profit !

Cheers
