Buying BMW in the UK and bringing it home

I Need some advice on buying a car in the UK and bringing it home.My best friend has been living in the Uk for 13 years so i was advised i could buy my BMW DAY FOR 16,000 STERLING but put it in my friends name and bring it home.I was told to garage it for 6 months and then my friend could register it with irish plates without paying the VRT.The catch it it will be in here name and i cant drive it for 6 months.she has a house here and is over once a month to ireland sometines more.So just looking for some feeback on this can this be done
