I bought a tv last night and was offered the usual extra warranty for more money but said I would think about it. The Tv cost 850 and the extra warrranty would be another 100.

What are peoples views on these things - money racket or good idea???

what does the warranty cover that isn't already covered by the manufacturers guarantee, your consumer rights, and your household insurance?

Remember your consumer rights can sometimes be more powerful and more extensive than any warranty provided and is always free of charge !!

These extended guarantees on consumer electrical goods are merely a means for retailers to squeeze that extra shilling out of the fearful consumer. They offer virtually nothing the statutory guarantee – well, guarantees.

Most branded electrical goods usually last far longer than even these money-rackets will insure for. So, foxylady, live up to your name; be foxy when dealing with some retailers and refuse to be taken in.
