Possibly a very daft question but I would appreciate an answer

You do see plots of land for sale as agri land for say 10 acres for 80k Euro. Now this price is considerably cheaper than you would pay for a site.

So is it possible to buy agri land and build a house on it or is there land rezoning issues or something

apologise if this is a daft question but a mate of mine bought 18 acres recently for 65k euro, not bad land, needed draining etc, but he also build a big house on the verge of it. Obviously cost him no where near the same price that a site in the area cost him

he was lucky. usually land is only sold as agri when there is absolutely no chance of pp.

Bargains like that are few and far between. Unless the standard of the land is absolutely atrocious, or it is in an extremely remote location, €3600 an acre would be regarded as an absolute steal even where there is no possibility of future development.

Depending, of course, on where it is. There is plenty of agricultural land in and around that price in certain parts of the country.

Down in Mayo, I suspected he got lucky alright
