Buying a laptop in America

A friend of mine has offered to get me a DELL laptop from America next month. Don't really know much about technical end of things. Is there anything I should watch out for especially regarding power supply.

I picked up a used Dell laptop over there last year. I just had to change the plug and it worked fine. There is a big black rectangular shaped box on the power lead. I assume that its some form of transformer or regulator.

Mine is a bit old and doesn't have a € or £ key. Otherwise it's fine.

The warranty may not apply outside the US/North America for laptops sold in that market.

Most, if not all, laptops come with universal (100V-50Hz/240V-60Hz compatible) power supplies/transformer. Murt10 - the black box is the transformer.
