Buying a car in the North and Re-registering

Does it pay to but a car in Northern Ireland and re-register it in the South? Anyone any experience in doing it? I've hear it can save you a couple of grand - depending of course on the price of the car...
 
yes it does pay...i did it myself and will do it with my next car.
you also get the advantage that the casr is usually in better condition - better roads and also the fact that you sometimes get a lot of the extras on the car which you wouldnt find as common down south.
 
Have also done it and found it an easy process. I bought privately and saved approx €3k (On a car worth €25k)
 
Are there any issues with warranty when buying in the North or UK? Do you invalidate any warranty by exporting it from there?
