My son is repeating leaving cert in Institute of Education in Leeson St and traveling up and down on the bus with Bus Eireann. Because he is not in an approved third level education college (they have a list) he is refused the student ticket price even though he produced his student ID card and instead he has to pay the full fare. I checked out the Bus Eireann website and this appears to be the case, second level students have to pay more than third level. Is this right or am I missing something.

What about the student travelcard which gives discount on bus eireann/irish rail for 2nd or 3rd level students. I know it costs something like €12 for the year but does make a difference. My son gets a monthly commuter train ticket for €25 as against €1.70 each way per day.

The educational institution stamps the travelcard application and you send it in. Once you have the travelcard, the institution being "listed" or not isn't relevant.
