I have no idea why there would be "difficulties" withdrawing funds from a joint savings account, or what "faster access to my savings" means, but have no idea what the difference between the 2 is - and again, whether there are legal differences in ownership between the 2 types of account. I suspect that Bunq are using poor terminology and that a "regular" Joint Account is deemed to be some type of current account that doesn't attract interest. But can't find anything to support this.
Thanks Itchy. I agree with you on that.Savings accounts are interest bearing and are limited to two withdrawals per month. Other accounts are neither interest bearing nor limited by the amount of withdrawals you need to make. They can be jointly owned or not.
I still think it's unclear whether a joint savings account is legally joint (as Bunq don't state that) or shared access account, as they state:
,"A Joint account is an account where there's more than one owner. All owners will be legal owners, and therefore the account is in all their names. A Shared Access account is a sub-account where you give access to your friend/family member. You'll stay the legal owner of the account."
I gave access to my wife on what I understand to be a sub account, even though it's my only account. Can I rely on the word "joint" determining legal joint ownership?
Actually just did that, 2 names. Still very poor terminology from Bunq though. Thanks.I don't understand your confusion? If you opened a joint account, its jointly owned, if you didn't, its not, per your quote.
Export a statement for your account. If it has two names on it, it is jointly owned. If it doesn't, its not.
The material has a very ‘Euro-English’ feel alright, which can be tricky to get the meaning on first read.Actually just did that, 2 names. Still very poor terminology from Bunq though. Thanks.
