An announcement was made in the budget that Excise duty was reduced on home heating oil. Having made enquiries about the price of oil with the company I normally purchase from, I was told that the reduction was on imported oil and that it didn't affect their prices!!. I was unable to get any further info from the person who answered the phone and she added "that's what we were told". I was quoted 57c approx per litre.
I rang back 10 mins. later to find out if this was a VAT inclusive price. I was told that a price reduction had occured and the price now quoted is
55.40c per litre incl. VAT. Can any one throw any light on this. I am in the midlands. What prices are people being quoted?
