pbrosnan. you mentioned a mortgage in ireland, I guess it relates to your irish property, I never heard of someone getting a mortgage in ireland based on hungarian property. CIB is very very very , very slow on the adge of being absolutly unefficient, you may want to check http://www.fidentiagroup.com (www.fidentiagroup.com) they done good job in the past. interset rate is usualy euro base + 2.5%, add 1% - 1.5% for fees and other expanses.
Yes i have the mortgage on an irish property. Is there any company in ireland that specialises in overseas mortgages? I would prefer to deal with an irish company. Are all banks ,estate agents etc. in Hungary so inefficient? Some of them seem to be a throwback to Communist times. They need to get real and put the client first and give a proper service if the country is to prosper in my opinion.
It's true that Hungary has a long long way to go in terms of customer service standards. In many ways, it's also a bureaucratic nightmare. However, I've found that building up personal relationships with specific people within companies can make a huge difference (banks, management companies, legal firms, etc.)
pbrosnan, it is true that the level of service that one can get in budapest is not the same as you will expect to get in dublin for example. some agencies seems to be more professional (A1, Casaro and few of DH agents) but all in all the level is not more then average. I am not familier with irish agencies dealing with overseas you should try daft.ie for some info. but in the internet age it make little difference if you deal with irish or english broker, I can also recomand an hungarian broker but then we go back to the service issue again....
