My husband and I are both on SW, he is down as my adult dependant so I claim x amount for the family. I want to pursue a course next sept but it is a part time course so not eligable for BTEA but allows me to keep my job seekers allowance. The same course is being run in another town nearby and is full time. Am I better off doing the full time course to receive BTEA or would it be pretty much the same as I get on JSA anyway (circa €325, husband is self employed and earned money this year which reduced our allowance by €57)
The part time course would suit me better as I have young kids and its only up the road but if we would be financially better off by receiving BTEA then I would be happy to do the full time course. I had a look on a few sites but it didn't give any indication of how much the education allowance generally is.
I know that either way I have to satisfy SW that I am still seeking full time employment which is fine as I would happily take up any job over the course and i intend to ask in SW what my options are but I wouldn't like to ask them directly if I would be better off financially by doing a full time course!
