Brushed Weather Stripping for Sliding Door

Hi

I have a sliding door from my kitchen to conservatory. There is a black brushed/soft fur seal a few mm thick around the door frame to keep draughts out. It seems to be stuck on with adhesive.

I think that over time the brush/fur has worn down as last winter there was cold air coming in around the door frame . I could feel it if I placed by hand around the door edges.

Anybody know where I can buy a new seal ? I assume if it is stuck on with adhesive it is just a case of pulling off the old one and sticking on a new one ?


I have tried some builder providers so far but to no avail. They have only had a flimsy adhesive foam which doesn't look like it would make a good replacement.

You could try ringing the guy recommended in this thread to see if he can give you any advice. Quite a number of people on AAM appear to have used him and recommended him afterwards.
 
The product im thinking of (and I think the op is thinking of) is not available retail. That is why im wondering if and where they got it.
It comes in three different sizes, two colors, and is slid through the aluminium groove on the door/frame.

The OP mentioned it was 'stuck on with adhesive', so not the slide in variety.

I know Trend used to sell the slide-in variety to go along with their router cutters that cut the corresponding groove in wooden door & window frames, but I don't see it on their site now.

Is it something like this you have in mind - its in the exitex link up above under seals for sliding sash windows, it actually has a very thin piece of plastic to the centre to aid recovery.

Leo, that link to B&Q seems to be exactly what I'm looking for. I'll take a trip out there and see what its like.

NHG, thanks for the link to exitex as well. I phoned them and they were very helpful. The link you sent seems to be for a slide in seal which wouldn't suit me as my door frame does not have grooves but they did say they have adhesive seals as well.
I will get back in touch with them if the B&Q seal doesn't work out.
