Broomfield village, Midleton, Cork

We are moving to Midleton, Cork and are considering the Broomfield area as it is close to the train station, which is ideal for my wife who will be commuting to Cork city. Is this a good family area ( we have a 4 year old and a 6 year old)? When does the train station actually open? Are there other nice areas around the train station to live?

Early 2009 accrding to [broken link removed] However, I'm sure I've heard somewhere that the line won't actually open until 2010??
