Broken sink not being replaced

Only at the start of tiling I spotted a big chunk of porcelain chipped off the underside of the sink. No work has even started in the bathrrom so it was obviously there from the beginning. Builder is saying that it can't be replaced because it wasn't spotted in the original snaglist. Where do I stand?

Was the sink supplied by the builder or did you buy it yourself? If it is still under warranty (usually 12 months) from the supplier and you have a receipt they should replace it for you. I had the same problem and it was replaced no problem.

Has the sale closed already? If so then I doubt that you have much comeback. At least if it's just a chip and not a crack (that could cause leakage) you could try hiding it by painting it with white enamel (e.g. Airfix!) paint or something like that.

It was supplied and installed by the builder. To me it is very obviously a mistake by whoever installed it as the chip is right by the screw.
