Thanks for that - I don't habe anyone I can borrow a modem from, but will see if UTV will send one if this goes on. I fiddled a bit with my PC last night and got another step along the line (it is a second hand one a mate got me). I turned on all the 'services' within the system folder, so the PC is finding the modem and I get a log in screen and an IP number is allocated, at least that's something. I have a steady DSL light, but when I run the 'troubleshooting' in the log-in, it tells me there is an 'ADSL line error' (something like that, not at PC at the moment). So I reckon it might be a dodgy phone line / connection somewhere - Eircom tell me the line is ok, so I might have to stump out the €60 to get an Eircom tech to check out the phone connection point.
