The family are constantly using up my 12GB UTV download allowance by the third week in the month and because I refuse to pay the extra €6 to go unlimited, I am always cut off at this time.
When I rang UTV they were able to tell me that last Sat/Sun someone downloaded a 3GB file in the middle of the night. I know who it was but he won't admit downloading movies. (However that is my problem (and his!))

Anyone know of a Bandwidth Monitor that is easy to set up and just sits on my desktop and chunters away live, as opposed to logging into UTV the next day to find what is left, by which time the horse has bolted?

I have four separate PC's in the house all wired up together.
 
If your router is left on full time then it might log the required information already.
 
take a look at bitmeter, i use if for monitoring current download speeds but it has history breakdowns also:
