Is anyone here tried to live in Britanny, how's everyday's life there? By the way only last week my father informed me that he is currently negotiating with a real estate agent through http://www.frenchventure.co.uk. One of his colleagues introduced him that website; actually that colleague of him acquired already a property from them. I checked the website and I found out that there are lots of properties in different regions of France.

If the negotiation turns out to be succesful I will be the one to take care our property there; is it advisable if we make it as a rental property, how is the rental market there right now? Thanks!

The main difficulty with investing in France as far as I can see is the astronomical transaction costs. Capital appreciation has generally been very sluggish. So you really want to be in it for at the very least 5 years and ideally 10 - 15 years. Capital appreciation in Brittany was 6 % 05/06 for example.

I bought a good book called "Buying a home in France" By David Hampshire...suffice it to say after reading it we decided to rent!
