Hi all

Any advice: I bought 6 tickets for a gig. then it was camcelled....when I went to return the tickets they would only give me back the face value and not the visa and booking fees-which amount to ten euro. I know its only ten euro but I dont see why I should be down ten euro for this.

Any opinions as to my rights here?

Thank folks

I'd start by telling the shop that you'll be taking out a Small Claims Court case for the difference, and see if that gets them moving.

Whilst the gig was cancelled, the shop, who gets the handling fee, did their job in "handling" the sale. In fact, they did double the normal amount of work for the same fee, in that they had to handle the refund as well.

Should they not be entitled to payment for services rendered, assuming there was no issue with how the shop handled the sale?

I'm playing devil's advocate on this one a bit, as I know the store should refund all the monies as the purchaser doesn't really care who gets what from the original price. But, maybe an idea as to why the store is holding onto the money.

I don't think it is unreasonable to expect the shop to plan for the possibility of gig cancellation, and ensure that they are in a position to return the full ticket price in such cases. It shouldn't be a huge surprise that cancellations are a possibility.

But if that was the case how come the handling charge is per ticket and not per transaction.
The shop handles one transaction for 6 tickets and one for refund and yet has taken 6 handling charges.

The "per ticket" aspect of the handling fee has always raised hackles with customers. Whether you agree with it or not, it is clearly stated in Ticketmaster's Ts&Cs.

"Tickets purchased on ticketmaster.ie may be subject to a per ticket convenience charge and a non-refundable per order handling charge"
