Bought recently on internet auction and since then lost job

Hi

Got a question that needs answering. Bought computer recently in online auction and dont want it now. Is there a way to pull out of the purchase or are you bound to the terms and conditions that are signed when you register ? I have not paid anything yet from my CC but they have my details. I have not collected the item either. Has anyone had a similar scenario or any advice ?
 
If this is ebay, there are penalties for cancelling an order, and you have entered a legally binding contract.
Best and easiest thing to do is contact the seller, explain that you cannot afford the item, apologise, and ask them to break the contract. They can relist for free if you do it this way. It happens all the time and most sellers would be reasonable about it as long as you are polite.
 
I would think there is a contract in place. You might want to contact the seller to see if they would be understanding of your circumstances but they are probably in need of the money too. I agree with magpie about how you should approach the seller.

Generally these internet auction sites make it clear that you will be entering into a contract.

Depending on how much you promised to pay it may be worth your while not following through with the payment. The penalty might be more affordable. This would reflect badly on you however if you wanted to bid on anything else in the future on that site

Why will the cc company care whether he can afford it or not, there business is giving money to people without it! If OP has entered into a legally binding agreement with no cancellation policy the cc company can't just decide to cancel transactions.
Its likley the seller has every right to charge the OP's credit card at this point and the cc company would have no basis to cancel it if he as agreed to pay and has entered into a contract.
 
The Credit Card company will not issue a chargeback for change of mind.
