Recently booked a camping holiday for this Summer in France. In the course of looking, we visited the Keycamp.ie site, found the campsite we wanted and got a quote of something in the region of €2250 for 12 nights. Out of curiosity, I tried the Keycamp.co.uk website and got a quote for the exact same holiday for £780 or about €1120.
Now I know that these European camping holidays tend to include the cost of Ferry travel etc. The cost of travelling Ireland to France is extortionate compared to UK to France but this surely cant account for the difference!! As it happens, we wanted to fly-drive anyway as we are going to the South-West of France - a trip too far from North West of Ireland in our own car. Needless to say, we booked with the UK website for a fraction of the price - no issues accepting booking from Ireland. Out of interest, we also checked out the Eurocamp.co.uk website and saw similar differences compared to the Keycamp.ie price.
In the end we got campsite, flights for 4 and 2 weeks car hire for significantly less than the cost of the same holiday on the Irish site. In fact, the cost on the Irish site only included a ferry crossing via the UK - direct to France incurred an additonal cost!! For anybody planning a fly-drive camping holiday, it's worth looking at the UK sister sites if you want to book accomadation-only.
