Booking deposit

Hi all……. I’m looking at maybe buying a new house over the next few weeks which wouldn’t be completed until towards the end of next year. I know there is a booking deposit of 3k and then another 10k due when signing contracts. I’m just wondering does anyone know with new houses how long after paying the booking deposit would the contracts normally be signed? Would that be nearer the time of booking or nearer when the house would be finished?

I’m waiting on the estate agent to get back with answers to a few questions so can ask him then but just curious in the meantime!
 
As a rough guide, after about 1-2 months of paying the booking deposit.

make sure to check your completion date and even try check out the developers before signign anything as we purhcased may 06 with comp date of 18mths and 30 mths later, its still not built
