Booking deposit - can you pay by credit card?

Hi All,

We are are looking at new houses this weekend. I'm not sure about how you are expected to pay the booking deposit.

Is it possible to pay the booking deposit by credit card?
If you are interested, can you put your name down and go into the bank for a bank draft the next day?
How long do you have to pay it or must you pay on the spot?

You can usually reserve the house on the day of viewing and drop/post a cheque or bank draft into the agent within a couple of days.

Thanks Sarah. RainyDay, we don't have a cheque book, which was worrying me as I don't think I'd get one overnight, even if I begged in my bank!
 

they won't take a credit card , the % fee they pay would be huge...

I had to send a cheque to get to them in the 3 days after the offer was accepted...best bet (if you don't have a cheque book) is to use a bank draft....
