I booked flights online with a typo on the passenger names.

The company is trying to charge €110 per name change. Is there anyway around this?

It was with a debit card and was wondering if we cancelled the card would we have any chance of getting this money back and say it was fraudulent activity?

I had to pay Thomas Cooks £100 to change my name, I mistakenly put my name twice instead of my wife’s name, even though I spotted it straight away. I thought their software should not allow the same name twice, more money for them

There are plenty of Irish families where the father and son share a name. I guess they could offer a warning if you do enter the same name twice though but there are countless other ways people can make mistakes and they won't catch all of them.

Good point, but there would not be a Mr & Mrs with the same name, male @ female

Not if you spell the name in full as on the passport, + the booking usually asks male or femail.
