Im looking to get a new combination boiler.

I have had quotes for installation etc but was wondering if anyone knew where i could find a price comparison site for different boilers.I have looked on http://www.boilers.org.uk/ but it doesnt seem to have prices.

My plumber said i should look for 30kwatt. Does anyone know which brands i should go for. which are more relaible than others?

Many Thanks

Re: Bolier price comparisons

Google on worcester boilers to get lots of information including prices. Didn't check through to see if they have outlats in Ireland, but it will give you an idea on costs.

Re: Bolier price comparisons

A 30 kw boiler is certainly oversized for the standard Irish home. Once you have your ceiling/attic insulated and double glazing windows in place the standard home of around 120 m2 needs no more then 12 kw, if the walls are insulated as well then even less. Go for a modulating boiler with a wide modulating range starting at a low output. Ask your plumber to meassure the pressure at the water mains and then go for a combi boiler if suitable.
Check the Sedbuk homepage for efficiency to see if you are offered scrap:

Check the DIY markets like B&Q for offers.

Re: Bolier price comparisons

I would agree with the estimate of 12 / 14kw for a standard three/four bed home (stamp duty size) - obviously the boiler price depends on the brand / spec and efficiency (try www.rvr.ie for prices - no connection)

But what exact labour charges are you getting - that seems to be the real trade secret in Ireland - I assume that you are simply replacing an old one
