Looking to pick up a piece of bog oak for that
important-someone in my life. Can anybody recommend where I could get some in the west Dublin/north Kildare area?
 
There's a bog oak place on the road between Clane & Celbridge (on the left heading toward Clane). Never called in but by all accounts is very expensive.
 
There is a place in a village called Ballynahown in Offaly that sells online - his stuff is very nice and is presented nicely as well. He has a studio down there if you wanted to call in - but i realise it is not in your area, but the website is good.

It is interesting that their business model is that of a cooperative. Now thats unusual in this age.
