Hi

Thinking of hiring a cruiser on the shannon for 3 days in late march /early april. But wondering if it will be very cold on the cruiser at night etc.? Thanks for any advice

We spent a week on one a few years ago in July it rained alot and I felt cold and miserable the whole week - but maybe thats me my young boys (at the time) had a ball and didn't notice - but for me never again!!!

Thanks for info. I was on the erne as a kid about 30 years ago in june and I remember waking up freezing. I was wondering if the insulating/heat is better nowadays but from your post it seems not!

Many boats have heaters; ask the hire company that you are thinking of using.

Warm bedding is also very useful. You could bring sleeping bags to supplement whatever is supplied by the hire company.

we hired a cruiser for a few days last May from Banagher and really enjoyed it - gives you a totally new perspective of the river. Likely to be pretty nippy in March however - you can always warm up in Killeens at Shannonbridge!
