I want to but a small boat have in order to cross a river just a few mintes from me. What typre should I get - I see Dinghys for sale but are they safe? or a cot?

Need a few more facts, I'm afraid:

How wide is the river? How fast-flowing? Do you plan to row/paddle or will you use an engine? Is it safe to leave stuff tied up at the bank? How frequently will you use it?

If you post replies to these it would help....

Maybe the answer to some of these questions will help with the answer.
How many people/what will you be carrying?

What is the depth of water, Is there a fast current?
Can you row or do you need an engine?
Is there safe storage on each side?
Is there a suiteable slipway nearby for launching a boat?
Is your back up to the lifting and dragging?
Can you put a towbar on your car?
When the boat is not in the water have you somewhere safe to store it?

Do you really need to cross the river?

I think you've got this guys (gals) query all wrong (no thanks to the spelling). I think he wants to 'butt a small goat' which appears to be perfectly reasonable to me. He just wants to ask about the various 'typres' of small goats available as it would be pretty dangerous to butt a large goat. My advice to him is that he reads back over his query before hitting the post reply button.
