Board Games - where to buy?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows of a shop in Dublin that sells non-mainstream board games. I've often come across shops like this in mainland Europe and i'm always facinated when i look around at the varied selection but am always put off buying by the language barrier (instructions etc.).

Toy shops in Ireland seem to only sell the usual common games - monopoly, scrabble etc. or else kiddy games. For example, i recently got to play a game called 'Ticket to Ride' which was bought in America and was great fun but am unable to find anywhere that sells it over here. Someone also recommended 'Thurn & Taxis' to me but have had no luck in finding it so far.

It is available online and i will go down that route if i have to but would much rather a shop that i could walk into and browse around.

Any help greatly appreciated.

I used to sell a lot of unusual games in Special Days in Liffey Valley but the market was very limited. - I intend to up the range considerably this year online & in our carlow store (liffey valley closed since jan 07) but the big problem is there are literally hundreds of quite good board games available.

For the moment go here [broken link removed] and you'll find links to retailers that use this specialist supplier.

Thanks Caveat / mcaul,

The friend who introduced me to 'Ticket to Ride' mentioned Special Days in Liffey Valley and was sad to see it close. Will definitely make a visit to the Carlow store when i'm next in the area.

I was looking for a game which was only out in america and found it in a basement shop on crow street (near the entrance to the foggy dew). It sells mainly fantasy warcraft type games but the game i got wasn't of that type so they might have a few different bits and pieces.

That shop has closed down. Subcity on Exchequer St will have some and will order in. And on a side, Thurn und Taxis is very good: I have it!

I have no affiliation with them.
