BMW Shuddering

Hiya.

I have a 2000 318i and this week it has started shuddering in neutral for the first few minutes after I start it...sounds like it's about to cut out.

Anyone any ideas?

Is the idling erratic? Is that what you mean by shuddering?

If so, it could be a few things...

The AFM could be failing

I know someone who had a problem with his 318i before and it turned out to be a leaking vacuum pipe. Check for the obvious & cheap option first. If no luck, best to get it diagnosed.

Based in Dublin. The shuddering is just for the first few mins after starting it when cold. Kinda hard to explain. Love the car but with that badge am nervous about walking into a dealership!!

When did you last top it up with oil?

Oil should be OK as had it serviced before Xmas...might put in some more this evening tho. Have a nice golf jolly tomo morning and don't want to be let down!
