Is it possible to use a Blu-Ray machine in Ireland that was purchased in the US? Technically, What do I need to look out for ?

All replies greatly received.

They probably decode in NTSC, the US transmission for TV. Check if it will play back in PAL, the European format.

There is a system of region coding much like the very unpopular system for DVDs, but AFAIK current Blue-Ray discs are 'region anywhere', that is to say, no region coding.

The NTSC/PAL thing is not such a big deal these days as most TVs are multi-region and the standard and this only applies to analogue recordings. If using HDMI, I think its irrelevant.

So, I'd say that the discs will almost certainly, probably, play.

Just to let you know my friend has just returned from USA and bought me PS3 games and a blu ray DVD, and I have no proplem with any

I've been looking into this over the last few weeks as well and it seems that while some studios are releasing titles as "region free" others are region locking them, so until someone comes up with some hacks I can't really get a player as yet :(
