I have an old gas fire that hasn't been used in the 13 years that i've lived here, as it's an ex council house you can imagine that the fire isn't the prettiest thing to look at so I want to remove it. Can anyone tell me if I need to cap off the chimney when I board it up or can I just leave a vent in it. Lot's of peaple have told me different things so i'm completely befuddled.
