Just got back from a weekend in Blackpool with Aer Aran, and everybody flying back had to pay a £10 Airport Development Fee at Blackpool Airport, before we were allowed into Departures.

What a rip-off. I think this is the reason Ryanair pulled out of the airport. I am with Ryanair on this one.

Happens at Knock Airport all the time - Ryanair still fly from there.

No it was not included in the ticket price. There is a ticket machine in the airport which prints out a barcode which you need to open automatic gates to departures.

Simple, you would not be able to get 'airside' and would miss your flight.
