Can anybody give me information on the development in Blacklion Manor, Greystones, is it an okay place to live, near amenities, ie. Greystones Town or DART station, etc, any halting sites nearby .....

Thanks ....

If it is the new development behind the new Lidl in Blacklion, it would be a little bit out from Greystones town and Dart Station (circa 2 miles). No halting sites nearby afaik and (possibly) some nice scenery of sea and kindlestown hill (depending on house/apt). Fairly close to only Petrol station in Greystones and about a mile and a half to Tescos. Bus routes fairly close by aswell. No pubs or restaurants nearby. You will have to go into Greystones or Killincarrig (or further afield) to eat/drink out. As building work is still in progress might be a bit noisy if closer to the current building area. If schools are an issue, then you should be aware that Junior schools (St Lawrence's or St Kevins) are suffering capacity shortage which is likely to become more acute as more building developments completed, and only one Secondary school (St Davids) which, if you evaluate a secondary school by Sundays Times table on number of pupils going to third level, or by availability of extra curricular activities/resources or broad curriculum, would not score very highly on any of those counts (although anecdoctally it has improved and there is talk of it relocating with improved resources).

Nearby walks are great

Askar is correct, except there is another primary school St. Bridgets, which I understand will be relocated to Charlesland. St. Laurences is a great school. St. David's Secondary school is good, they have a musical every year. Exams at xmas & summer to keep them on their toes. The new harbour development is a contentious issue locally with old greystonians versus new. They have scaled down the development a bit with the many objections to An Bord Plenala. They need to do something soon to the harbour as its in bits.
