Birmingham - hotel/B&B help!

hi all,

Am thinking of going to Birmingham for 1 night to go to the Crufts dog show at the NEC. From research, I've figured that the NEC and the airport are fairly close to each other.
Can anyone recommend a good site for finding hotels/b&B's near the NEC?

I think there's a Novotel right at the airport (no idea what it's like - fairly modern I think) - across the road from the Terminal Building - I think that's the only hotel exactly on the Airport site (certainly used to be the case a few years ago) ..

The NEC is very close to the airport - you could walk it I think or there's a free bus - it's a few hundred yards at most - the same train station ("Birmingham International") is for both the Airport and the NEC

There are probably hotels at the NEC too I don't know .. perhaps someone else can comment .. however the trains into central Birmingham (New St. Station) are frequent, pretty fast and cheap so staying downtown might be a better option ... the area round the airport/NEC would have struck me as fairly bleak
