I bought a flexifuel car 2 years ago and wa shappily availing of E85 Bioethanol to power my car for about 1.15c a litre as compared to petrol which is currently 1.40+ nationwide.
Recently I went to my local Maxol to fill up only to see the pump was no longer in service and they have decided to discontinue biofuel.
Having got no info from the shop assistant I went onto the Maxol website
and found that the government has decided to cancel its excise duty derogation on Bioethanol. As a result Maxol, the main provider in Ireland can no longer afford to produce it in Ireland and will no longer be available from January 2011.
What was/is the point of promoting environmentally friendly vehicles and fuel if the fuel is no longer available to run the bloody vehicles on???!!
IS E85 still being supplied by any other oil company?
